Contact small local Hardwood or Cedar mills . Some have small strips where they edge boards or scrap boards you could rip . May charge a little or get to know the folks Offer to take them fishing or share your catch it goes a long ways sometimes .

there is a method where you drive the stakes right into the lake bed . its pretty easy from what I saw . of course you have to find the stakes and make you a pvc driver .
just a thought , and most of the time brush tops and stuff like it lay in piles when they clear spots out and cinder blocks are cheap and a little nylon cordage and you are in business .

Spindle, I got stakes at a lumber yard on President Island once. They were on Harbor St. I don't remember the name of the place. Got all I could haul, no charge.

Driving stakes into the bottom of the lake is what I'm planning to do once I find the stakes I need. I'm also going to sink some willow branches too.

I'm looking to put out 100 or so stakes....that's a lot of ripping.

Your telling me here is just a sample of ours . Wore out several old table saws . We have drove them in on drawdowns . But mostly using PVC driver out of a boat .

Sawmills like someone said and also lowes and home depot will often have a pile of wood that they cannot sell (cracked, splintered, etc.) and almost give it away for you to haul it off.
