    Default Pedestal base

Has anyone ever installed a pedestal seat base in an aluminum bass boat lid? I have a Nitro bass boat I fish out of and I really don't like this millenium side kick set up. Only room I have for extra bases is in the lids.

I would be afraid to put them in the lids.

Have a weld shop reinforce the lid.

    Over look the mess,
This is an 1860 boat, with a dropped deck, you can see my bases are at the rear of the lower deck, so when it was new came with cabled foot pedal troll motor, when you dropped the motor down foot pedal road halfway up the wall, couldn’t reach it, had to take to the factory for other work anyways and had them put the base in the lid, hinge is welded anyway, I use the “S” pole on it
No problems, been like this since 2005

The lids are reinforced down the center already. They are pretty stout.

That was not something I really even considered. You may be on to something though. With all your weight on the lid center I can't see how it could possibly open. May look in to a better latch though. Thanks

Tape is reference point to where the holes will be cut if I do this. This would center the base over the bracing in the lid as shown in the photo.Name: 20200112_103301_HDR.jpg

Mounting something to the lid would work and if the support of the top is a concern then get a aluminum plate to put on the back to give it support.
