I agree. There are some real sour attitudes from some people regarding Livescope. I don’t understand it. I don’t look down on people who have things I don’t, or don’t have things that I do. I guess I expect people to treat me the way I treat others but that’s not reality. Some of the people on this thread are just plain snobbish. Don’t look down on me because life didn’t work out like you wanted it to.
I hate everybody that has live scope, however if I'm on your boat and you have livescope I will probably love the heck out of you. Hopefully 2020 will be a great year for fishing!

Boy! Has this thread got some folks dander up or what? I think as a tournament fisherman, LS is a must have tool, regardless of cost. To me, the few times I've had the honor to fish with it in friends boats, I've learned TONS about crappie behavior and know the value of the technology. This being said, to me the real joy of fishing is the time spent fishing. Don't get me wrong, its a thrill to watch the screen and watch a true slab knock the fire out of your presentation, or not. But in the process, did I miss that rare bald eagle sitting in the top of that tree or the doe and her twin fawns coming down to waters edge for a drink of water?
The truth of the matter is I enjoy the opportunity to go fish, especially with good friends or just by myself.

Here is my take on livescope . It may hurt the big fish populations on some lakes , if too many really learn to use it . I broke down and bought a Garmin 1242xsv and livescope . I always use Humminbird but finally gave in and dropped the cash . Not everyone has the boat skills to use it to the max . You will see more fish on some lakes than you ever dreamed , but still have to catch them . Once you get settings right and can control your boat it is amazing tool . You will pretty much tell what Buffalo , Gar , Drum , Bass , and panfish look like and how big . See if they react to your presentation or scatter from your boat . I have found fishing a spot like a brush pile or stake bed you will save time by seeing where they are in it . See if they spook or just not interested . On some spots there will be several bigguns , catch one and the rest scatter .
WSD took me and showed me about trying to catch the highest first to reduce chance of spooking them . I went to Wister with him and caught fish under a huge drift where I never would have tried before . You could see a huge school tightly packed under the drift . With livescope we pulled up able to pinpoint depth and distance . I knocked a hole to get my jig in then watched it lower to them . Then it was on . amazing .
I caught my biggest livescope fish on my home lake this week . When you see a 16'' on screen and toss it a jig . Then see it eat and feel the thump it is crazy . I have always done good most places but feel will catch more bigguns by not wasting time where only dinks . Just hope everyone that fishes a lot will release some of the big ones . I plan on taking some road trips looking for that 3 lb Crappie that is rare on my home lakes . I had one boat dealer trying to sell me his big Humminbirds saying he was not impressed by the new stuff then he goes out and gets one .
Took a friend on a lake showing him how I do it
This is a 16'' I caught on my home lake and released
Still in learning stages but I been catching plenty , not sure I would have caught any less without livescope but it seems to help .
Trip with WSD ( Robert Robinson ) check out his videos on facebook
Another good trip alone with livescope , I am hooked

No love/hate conflict for me.
The HB and Garmin seem to get along, side by side , very well.
Actually makes for a pretty good team.
Pretty much feeling the love every time I get a tug from these little guys.
Bad news is that as more are assimilated, this technology will probably/eventually be devastating to the crappie populations.
The good news for the crappie is I don't eat fish or keep any fish.
Resistance is futile you will be assimilated. LOL
Sorry WSD is Robert Robinson , check out facebook videos he makes using livescope .

I don't hate Livescope, actually think its really cool and probably use it quite a bit tournament fishing this year. But that said I think it is absolutely bad for our fisheries and have mixed emotions about whether its really the way I want to fish or if I even really consider it "fishing". Just my personal concerns and what I wrestle with. Just like I choose to hunt deer with longbows and don't use trail cameras I may end up choosing not to use it in the future.
