I keep a close watch on this line of mine ,
I keep my eyes wide open all the time ,
I keep a loop knot on for the tie that binds ,
because your NOT mine ,
if I don't WATCH the line
all kidding aside I do watch my line ,but more often than not as we get deeper into cooler waters its not much of an issue like it is in the warmer waters .
Anyway this particular post is about larger baits and what I dropped for the other day .
I put on some gaudy looking confetti pink chart tailed BIG bait on a number 2 pill head with 3 d eyes in candy apple I used last week .
I was pleasantly surprised at how well I did , the colors were by all accounts wrong for good water clarity and overcast skies , but none the less they hit it well and frequently .
anyway in the end it isn't always about color selection and quite often more about size .
I do think they wanted a larger profile in that lake that day . fish size was all over the map and little ones smoked it and bigger fish not so much . all of them were deep on the takes .all the fish were released and no true whale fish were involved .
I was told many moons ago to upsize in the winter and sometimes it works , but as always not always
