Nice catch!
That 1st gill was extra purdy very bright yellow - didn't show up in the pic. Water temp last Thursday was 58 59.

I noticed a few years back when I started using chartreuse nibbles when jiggin fer crappie the bluegill loved them and I been tippin jigs ever since with a nibble of some sort - nibbles - tiny piece of worm - salted shrimp - minners dead or alive - pieces of minners - and I dont buy minners I get them free from fisherman who are done fishing for the day and I seal em up in a baggie and in the ice chest and in the freezer when I get home - crappie etc love dead minners in pieces or whole. Some will disagree but works fer me and hopefully you to!

Does adding plastic really matter @all?? in other words plain hook/colored jighead(bare)?

Either way with or without will catch fish but a jig body will aid in out the jig swims, fall rate, visibility, etc.
