That is definitely odd looking
I’ve never seen anything like this, it was only attached to the fin not the body. Kinda looks like an egg sack, I threw it back now wondering if I should have disposed of it elsewhere. Any of you know what this is?

Lymphocystis - a common viral disease which affects all groups of fish, tropical, cold water, fresh water and marine. It is caused by an iridovirus which causes the host cells to become greatly enlarged. It affects the skin and the fins.

I caught a couple fish like that few years ago. that's what the bio. said too viral infection.
With all the flesh eating bacteria and no telling what else in the water these days. I am glad for cool weather and water temps. Slows a lot of that sort of thing down

cauliflower disease we call it , see it more in the warmer months . we use a cheese sauce with it down here
