a lot of those missed bites might be bluegill or small crappie .I would go to a smaller hook.

I switched to a 2/0 true turn hook a few years ago and have decreased my misses substantially. I fish in open water with live minnows. Just my 2 cents.

Changed to these couple years ago. Found much better hook up and holding on our big crappie down here. And if I was fishing that deep I would definitely be using braid.

I was raised up using 2/0 but my fishing buddy started using 4/0 aberdeen hooks. So that is what I use with minnows now after catching more and bigger crappie. I hook them behind the eye through the socket.

I'm just curious as to why ya'll think you need such huge hooks in the 1/0 2/0 & 3/0 category
We need bigger hooks here because if we used a #4 they would even come out the minnow haha we use big ones here! Big Minnows + big hook = big fish
