Unpainted, I am starting to think jighead color doesn't matter. Catch rate has not suffer since switching to them from using pink jigheads. Now I don't have to clean the eyes out everytime. Bass Pro unpainted heads with the red hooks are awesome. I like the 1/16 oz jigheads in these.

Ok I'm the only one on this board who's fav colour is blue.
I use a blue jig when fishing with a minnow
On a day with no wind and I can go to the real small stuff I use unpainted with and at a blue tube with a white tail.
Its not just my favorite colour ... the fish really seem to like it also
We are still in ice ........hopefully next week I can push my way through the ice

A quick question, is unpainted such a difference maker? I paint and tie my own jigs and never really thought about not painting the heads and just tying. I always paint my steelie jigs also, and never tip them with bait but the crappie and gills I tip if the fish are finiky. Thanks for the info all

If you are going to paint some might as well paint 3-4 different colors, Chart being first, but i am another who uses mostly unpainted, i tried to paint my own, Wally World or BPS is cheaper, cleaner, and do a better job than i did. i just got 3 10 packs of each color for something different.

Red, I say that because that is the color that I most often have luck with. that said, I find that the tail makes more difference. That would be chartreuse or some close variation. Sometimes, however, it does'nt make much difference what you put in front of them. If they want to bite, they will. If not, nothing in your arsenal will work.

Chartruese would be my choice, close second is white. Never tried unpainted heads but makes sense so i will. I also favor the jig heads that fit inside of the tube baits.

    Good topic.
