According to what I've read .... the IM8 would be the stronger, lighter rod. It would also have thinner blank walls (hence lighter), but would also be somewhat more "fragile" because of the thinner walls.
I m 6,7,8 rods . Which is stronger? , lighter ?

Well.....those numbers are not an industry standard but a manufacture standard. They will not be the same from one manufacturer to another. The link to the article is a great explanation about IM ratings.

Excellent article Alphahawk! It doesn't really help a great deal when you are in a sporting goods store, faced with a huge number of different rods. And the catalog listings for online sales are even more vague. All I do know for sure is that I've caught an aweful lot of crappie on rods which were not all that expensive. And they've served me quite well over many years of use.

I look for fairly stiff rods with a nice smooth arch when bent and not terribly heavy .
I also look for balance in my hand and rod butt length as I like long rod butts
I pay little attention to much other than the line and lure weight recommendations.
And then the price
The I M rating has never even crossed my path and I have not a clue what that even means .
Of course I suppose if I knew I could ketch better maybe .....maybe not too

Enjoyed that read. Thanks for sharing Alphahawk!
As strange as it sounds, I like the glass rods, To me they have a better action & hold up well. I am not talking about the $10 ones.
