Here's an original idea to make a mini grub stick that catches fish big time!
Cut the curl tails off two 1" or 2" grubs. Cut one segment off each for joining.
Light a candle and briefly hold each end over the flame for few seconds until the end looks melted. The joint is solid:
Rig the regular way or wacky rig with a jig head. Both ways catch booko fish! The first rig I retrieve with reel handle pauses and rod tip twitches; the wacky rig can be used allowing the jig to drop to the bottom or to mid depth - twitching and pausing.
Note: the candle flame method can also be used to shorten a plastic lure (worm) or make hybrid lures from two different lures:
This Slider Worm was shortened from 5" to 3"
Crappie Magnet Grubs were increased in length and given larger bodies:
Took these craw claws and attached them to a grub body. A dynamite bait!!
