I’ve helped rescue a pelican when I was young. Wrapped up in about 30lb mono, I was one of the holders while another cut things loose. I also rescued a loon that had become wrapped in a catfish limb line and was almost gone. He rested in my boat for 45 minutes before he swan off into the sunset. And yes, I have a pic of that. Things left behind gets me up on a long winded unhappy soapbox. Nuff said, thanks for picking up after others with no consideration of others.

I'd never say get physical but when you catch these idiots be assertive and insist they clean up. They'll apologize and clean up nine times out of ten. But if no one calls them out they'll do it forever, so will their kids.

Many years ago when I first started teaching, I was driving a school bus home after school when I saw a guy stopped on a bridge. I figured he was like me and just wanted to enjoy looking at the river for a few minutes. He drove off as I was pulling up so I stopped in case there was some wildlife he was looking at. Instead of wildlife, I saw 3-4 big trash bags floating away. Made me sick! Could never understand how some feel, out of sight, out of mind. Good post!

Skeetbum, I remember reading your posts on these. Good ones! Hope you are still enjoying Florida. (I think that's where I remember you were going to move to)

I'm not very big and old now but have no problem letting idiots know when they are doing our public parks and waterways wrong. Great thing now w cellphone videos? All u have to do is point it at someone like u are capturing their stupid acts and they always suddenly clean up their mess! Or look at them and announce u are calling police or rangers. Works every time

Good word Brother Ketchn. Some rants just need to happen.
I was taught very young also to take out whatever you took in plus at least 1 more piece of trash, not only fishing but hunting also

I have a friend who was fishing below Old Hickory Dam this spring on the rip rap rocks. He got tangled up in some fishing line. Stumbled, tried to catch himself, and ran a 1 inch wood stick through his foot. Almost came out the top and banged his other knee really bad. Just because someone left a hand line on the bank.
