Where is the line breaking at? Near the weight or the hook?
I use this knot for about everything I have noticed since I started drop shot fishing have had a lot of knots breaking ? Any ideals
Where is the line breaking at? Near the weight or the hook?
Good question. If it is near the hook you might want to check what type of hooks you are using, if they have a straight eye or a bent eye, if there is any burr in them etc... It could very well be the line you are using. Either the type, lb test, or just plain old crappy line. Ton of variables.
You could also use a loop knot instead of a polymar knot if all other variables are good.

I had a problem with the actual drop shot weight. The pinch swivel was cutting the line. Once I switched to another brand I no longer had the problem.

I wouldn't blame the Palomar knot. It could be an abrasive area on the weight or the hook, or maybe rotten line.

When tying the knot are you sure the line is not getting caught on the eye of the hook where they bend to make the eye? I find if knots are giving me a problem this is the area I have to watch when tightening down the knot.

I always stick the line in my mouth to wet it when pulling knot tight.
The Palomar knot is great. However: if the line through the eye is crossed over each other, the line will break right there. Was having a tough time with our double minnow rigs. Learned about this from one of Jimmy Houstons' videos. Some lines are more prone to breakage than others. Just have to experiment until you're satisfied.
