Hi,
I'm going to buy a fishfinder for pretty shallow, fresh water. In general,
40' deep and less. So would a lower powered fishfinder be better for shallow water? I see 2 basic types, the 187 rms and the 500 rms.
I just want the best setup for my situatuion, don't care if one costs more or less. I read that more power is always better, but don't know if that is true.
thanks,

In shallow water, it's really not that big of a deal. Screen resolution will do more for you than power. Not saying more power isn't better, but spend your money on resolution first. You can always turn down the sensitivity.
I've come around 180 degrees on color. At first, I thought it was a gimmick. After borrowing a 332c for a trip last year, I am a firm believer. I now have a color unit on the console, and wish my bow unit was color as well.
