    Taste like chicken...

hope ya know I am joking.

I am lucky enough to live near two places that bald eagles inhabit. West Point lake on the north western end has 3 nest that I have seen eagles on the nest. Goat Rock Lake also has 1 nest that I see Eagles on there. Both lakes are on the Bama/Ga. line. Chattahoochee river.. I feel blessed to live here near them and great crappie fishing.

The bald eagles are so thick around here they are nearly pests. I've personally witnessed two occasions of bald eagles robbing osprey of their catch. Usually they are far enough away that my digital camera won't take a good picture of them. Very cool to watch them fly around when we're out fishing. Ospreys are thicker than the baldy's, even have a pair nesting on a special platform built just above the stadium lights at Autzen Stadium here in Eugene, home of the Oregon Ducks. Last year they built their nest right ON the lights!
    I have a jig with a face like this!

Last summer I was setting in my boat fishing and there was a Bald Eagle on the beach.
A bunch of deer came down to the beach. I assume to get away from the deer flies. A few of the deer (does and fawns) walked out in the water and the fawns were jumping and carrying on. Having a good old time. They were fun to watch.
Anyway,, this eagle was eating something on the beach. I assume a fish when one of the fawns spotted it.

That fawn started towards the eagle really slow. Almost like it was stalking.
It got closer and closer and closer. It's head was down almost like it was going to charge that bird.
Well, that dam fool deer all crouched down like it was going to attack got to within about five feet of that eagle.
All of a sudden the bird opened it's wings and let out a screech that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. That scared that fawn so bad, when it turned to get away slipped and fell flat on it's side, got up took off running!:D I was laughing my head off. When the deer hit the water on a dead run the force of it hitting the water knocked it off balance and head first it went down. KA-SPLOOSH:D :D

I can't write it down to explain how funny it really was. I about died.
I just wish I'd had a video camera. I think that would have made Funniest Home Videos.

I like it on Reel-foot. When your fishing and 3 or 4 are flying above you . Now that is nice.

I saw one a couple of years ago around Russell, so there may be a few still around.
