Have 2 Winston 4wt TMF (Tom Morgan Favorite) fly rods that I paid $359.oo each on sale in late 1990s. Price for one last time I looked was $699.oo. And have $219.oo Galvan fly reel on each. So I have 2 flyfishing combos (rod / reel $580.oo each) only used for bluegill bream panfish flyfishing. Oh and forgot the $49.oo Scientific Angler fly line on each. -----> Life is short so enjoy while you can doing things you enjoy doing (within your budget). <------

One of my golden rules in life is never tell another man how to spend his money. It only becomes my business when he ask me for money.

An excellent builder just north of Atlanta:

    bamboo fly rods

He used to sell much cheaper rods, but the demand was so great, he raised his prices.

honestly i know you can catch fish with just about anything i have for over 50 years. BUT if you tell me you cant tell the difference between a GOOD rod and a walmart special when using it then i question your ability to feel the sensation of how it feels. lol

And i might add, im far from wealthy but over the last ten years i kind of wanted to buy myself three good rods before i retire. I do have probably another 12-15 rods ive collected over the years and use them all at one time or another and i know ive never spent over $50-$60 for any one of them. I did feel a little shameful when i had these three made but it wasnt all at once , it was over a five year period. most fisherman spend more than that on many different items when you start adding it up , including gas to get there. so now that im almost to retire im pretty happy about the purchse .

i guess it would depend on what you think good is most people wont ever use a 100 dollar rod everyone i know who fishes only uses basic zebcos the most tbh iv ever seen anyone pay is 70 dollars for a combo lol so id not know the difference

i only fish for cats and crappie/panfish and usually u need multiple rods for that thats why i couldnt see myself paying over 70 for a combo if i only needed the one rod then sure i could pay over 100 maybe for a combo but i like to take 6 rods when i go so i have a bunch of cheap zebcos for that
