Great story and pics. Lots of good memories made. Thanks for sharing.
I texted Billbob and told him Abbey was real sick and I might be going to Louisiana so that fishervet could do surgery on her to remove her gallbladder. So he flew down. It had everything to do with Abbey being ill and nothing to do with the expected snow storms coming to Indiana, or a possible road trip through the warm south! lol
Well as it turns out, Abbey does not have a Gallbladder problem. They don't know what it is, but she's doing better on antibiotics, steroids, and some liver pills. She had lost 10 pounds quick, but seems to be getting a little better slowly every day now. She's still got issues, so continued prayers are welcome.
So now that the road trip is off, we could get down to the business of catching Crappie. Lake Griffin is far from being on fire, but we're catching a few one way and another.
Billbob posed with the new decals that came in from Redge. Stick on measuring tapes. Check them out in the store if you want one.
Then Billbob found this hot blonde (my wife) and took her and I out for some ribs at Oakwood. If you've never eaten at Oakwood, you need to. They have the best ribs I've ever had. They have four locations all around Leesburg Florida.
Dang they are good. Fall off the bone good.
The next day we fish Griffin and are catching the big'uns! NOT
The fishing on Griffin seems to be getting even harder as the days pass. That's when we made a post on the site about possibly hitting Monroe. More on that later.
In the mean time, we want more food. My daughter found this Sushi/Hibachi place. One of those places that make up the food in front of you.
We all had a ton of fun here including my mom, who's trying to catch broccoli in her mouth! too funny.
So after I posted about going to Monroe, we had a few members chime in for an impromptu Billbob get together. Yay
WE found Flycaster on the water right off the bridge, and we started fishing, and catching. Awesome.
We had a great day, prolly caught a dozen just trolling around Flycaster and Speckanator.
Speck Detector got on these really nice ones. Wow.
We ate our bag lunches and talked fishing for a bit. Great to see everyone.
So after Monroe we tried Griffin again, and the fishing was even harder. Only a couple could be found. Dang it!
Since the fishing wasn't any good on Griffin I figure I'd put the guber to work filling bottles of Slabsauce! We were gonna need all the help we could get to catch the crappie! lol
Ifish from Kentucky said his buddy down here was catching them on Lake Dora. We met up with his buddy aka "Crappie Man", and he put us on a few fish. He's a great guy. Funny thing is, I had met him on the water once while on Griffin with Shu.
My daughter and Billbob caught some nice ones, but the funny part is, I did not! I caught one baby bass! They had a good laugh at my expense! lol
Abbey seemingly is getting better and begging for food. yay
Flycaster posted this about Manatee on Griffin, how cool.
So this time, the guber and I go out on Griffin and actually catch enough for a four fish hold. Yay
Crappiegirl1 called and invited us out to eat. Great time. We chatted about where to go to catch'em.
Crappiegirl1 said the bite should be happening soon on Beauclair, so the next day we met up with this pontoon boat racer.
Well, it turned out Beauclair wasn't gonna give up even a single fish to us this day. But it was still great to be out on the water and see the girl fishing.
The next day we went to Ichaban's. All you can eat Chinese food. I hate these places cause I eat way too much. You like my desert plate?
After Ichaban's it was nap time of course!
While at Monroe, Speck Detector had mentioned trying Lake Jessup with him. So later we made plans to do so.
Little did I know, we were gonna kill'em. We did great, fishing a way I have rarely done. We fished 2 feet of water (and under) with a jig ten inches under a bobber! Wow was it fun.
Although Billbob and I were not gonna keep fish, we had texted Shu, and he said he wanted exactly six! So we bought a few home for him. HE had just taken a stress test that morning and needed to relax a little. What better way to relax than to clean some fish. Well, if you know Shu, that's exactly how he would relax! Whatever works, right! Good job Shu, hope you passed the stress test. Praying you get good results back from doc.
Well the time had come for Billbob to go back to the snow country. Abbey was gonna miss him, no more food to mooch.
Mom said her goodbyes too. Gonna miss the guber.
