Off the cuff I would have to say it's a no for me, I know the carp are causing havoc but you don't burn down the house to get rid of the roaches!
According to the article they are having success the Illinois Department of Natural Resources has significantly reduced the carp population about 50 miles west of the CAWS electric barrier. So the problem can be managed if it's deemed critical enough.

I laughed out loud while sitting at my desk! To say we have a "problem" with those "protected" birds here in Michigan would be an understatement.
The only issue I find with someone creating the "magic bullet" is: "what if said person decides to take it upon themselves to accidentally release this stuff". It would be no different than someone making a dirty bomb and testing it to prove that it works. It would be quite a scientific acheivement if someone could create something that only effect one particular species but... scientists have been working on that for eons and have not come to anything close so I hightly doubt it in this case.

The fact that most Americans will not eat carp is insane. One time we had a family get together and I served it to thirty people who all seemed to enjoy it. Of course I only served people carp from relatively clean water but I do that with channel cats as well. That was back before the Asian carp was a thing but I suspect if property handled it would be the same. Getting fish on ice quick makes a big difference.

Carp were imported here in the 1800's as a food source. They cause lots of problems, eating vegetation and turning ponds and lakes into mudholes. They eat mud and taste like it. In some areas they may not stink as bad - but still no thanks I will stick to canned dog food and roadkill possum.

It's all in the way you handle them.
I'm all for drastic measures to get rid of carp but in the mean time education on how to properly prepare and cook them could provide a lot of people with cheap protein.
I respect other people's food choices. Bon appetit
