I think you got your answer: Just go fishing and have a good time.

Since he lived on the lake he didn't waist time if they weren't biting.

With air pressure falling, it would cause the bottle to sink more. The water had less force to hold up the bottle due to low pressure. He was fishing a falling pressure and knew the sweet spot. Thanks for sharing. Never had heard of this method.

I thought it was a good ? I've noticed a stronger bite on falling pressure, but I fish in smaller bodies of water than most of the post I see on here, typically 100 to 500 acre ponds. Lost count of times having to leave because of lightning ie: pressure dropName: IMG_20190103_164212523.jpeg

I can recall times where right before a summer rain storm the fish would seem to go crazy and hit anything thrown at them. I have not noticed the same thing in the spring or fall but that could just be me and lack of experience.

And one thing to note, he had this set up inside the boat house so it was measuring the pressure right where he was fishing; unlike if the the weather man say's the the pressure outside is "such and such" which is just a all around for the area not location specific.

I have read the same thing about depth and barometric pressure, but I don't remember the depth at which the water pressure is such that fish could not detect the change in air pressure. It was an interesting read.

I have had good fishing just before a storm blew up and chased me (us) off a body of water.

So, the best thing to do is just go fishing, you won't catch any fish sitting on the couch.

I'm not sure about the depth, either. (it was probably something I remember from Bill Dance's shows from decades ago, and he was most likely talking about Bass ... but, it's applicable to any fish specie)

But, the pressure difference is probably something like human divers experience, in that the deeper you go the more water is above you and therefore more pressure against the body (so the extra pressure from above the water probably doesn't add much once you go below a certain depth). But, humans can't inflate/deflate their "air bags" (lungs) like a fish can, because we "breathe" thru ours and fish just use theirs to maintain an upright position & buoyancy (getting their "air" from the water thru their gills). That's why fish brought up from the depths have bloated bellies ... because their air bag inflates from the loss of pressure.

The dropping pressure just don't make the fishing bite good but also will makes joints and bad back to hurt more.

My father believes in pressure and fishing success. Like the Mountain Dew, this is his tool of choice.
