Well, if you are asking about techniques, then I can tell you we are all "in" for side pulling jigs over deep water. We've accounted for a lot of crappie this season using that strategy.

As far as "rigs" go, we fish mainly UL rods (my fav is the B n' M SHSS 9') with 2# test line. We usually have 1/16 - 1/8 oz. ball heads on the business end, dressed with BGBS's and/or CB Sliders.

my fav is nothing new. leadhead and plastic 90% of the time. I probe wood for trophies most of the summer/fall. on ice its a glow jig and minnow or ice flies, hunting freezer meat. not as mushy in winter.

early fall--slip cork rig with 1/64-1/8 jigs various plastics.
late fall thru winter spider rigging minnow rigs (Capps and Coleman) 10' to 14' rods in 15-40' depths. depends on the lake.

Allllrighty then ... how about you tell us what techniques you already know about & use, and then we'll explain any "other" techniques that we know about & use.

Far as I know, there's basically three "technique presentation groups" that are used : casting/jigging - trolling - tightline (with or without float). All of them can be done with artificial bait, live bait, or both at the same time (in some cases).
And as far as "rigs" go : that's going to be --- hook/sinker .... jig ... crankbait -- and variations/combinations thereof.

If you're looking for a "variation" of a standard technique (ie casting/jigging group), then consider what I call "Vertical Casting" ... as explained in my long standing article : Crappie Pappy Article
