    This thread got me thinking a little (trouble, I know).

    I have a MK C2 30lb TM on the transom that I use for trolling.

    To my knowledge, this just has a variable resistor for speed regulation, which wastes a lot of current at lower settings.

    The Maximizer units are drying up and are quite expensive. There are some DIY PWM controllers, but I don't have the resources to build them.

    I figure that surely the Chinese are making a simple 12v DC PWM controller, and sure enough, I found a 40a unit on Ebay for 10 bucks and bought one.

    I just wish that I had a DC clamp meter to see how much of a difference it makes. I will post a thread once I try it out.
