Pulling cranks is completely different from casting and reeling one. There are some charts that will give you some good info on the Mississippi Board in the Cranking 101 sticky.
A crank will run deeper than the package says it will being pulled verses being retrieved. Some of it is trial and error but what you get with weights is what the weight will do by itself plus a little depending on the style of crank, like an Arkie 350 will run deeper that a 220, if that makes sense.

Denali rods are good I just am not crazy about the eyelets on them. I have decided to go with ACC Crappie Stix.

I would recommend Southern Crappie Rods I don't think you would be disappointed and Ed Duke is a great guy to deal with he is the one that sent me the 2 rods for the giveaway at camp.

I just ordered a couple Denali's in 18' as we sometimes need heavier weights here. We currently run up to 6, 16' Southern Crappie rods and really like them a lot but with 2 oz weights its often an issue. Wish I could find a 20' rod with similar action.

Ed just came out with his new 12,14,16 scrT for up to a 2 oz weight. Best rods on the market imp. I only live about 30 mins from ED and buying some new rods scrT Friday for heavier weights pulling cranks. Nicest man you will ever meet and deal with

I bought 2 a couple weeks ago from southern crappie rods. They are the heavier rods. Very nice rods.
