Consider getting the G2N just in case sometime in the future you get another for the console and want to connect them.

I use the same model but I have the "G2N" so that I can network with the finder
on my console. Call Brian at BBGMarine and he will be able to help with any questions
and pricing on what you may be looking for. He is a member sponsor and a great guy
    to do business with.

due to space reasons i purchased a Helix 5 DI GPS G2 for my upfront sonar.i called hummingbird and purchased a trolling motor transducer which i can send the one in the box back for a full credit once my unit arrives. what size power wire should i use to run back to my cranking battery? i wish i could get power from upfront either from my trolling motor plug, trim tab or running lights but ive heard its best to run it to the back...opinions?

Yes, it's always best to connect directly to the cranking battery to rule out any interference from other accessories. Size 16 ot 18 gauge is sufficient for voltage.

Two wires, red and black. The positive and negative wires on the power cord are encased in the black insulation. Pick up extension wires at AutoZone real cheap. Be sure to install a 3 amp in-line fuse on the red wire.
