    All the older guys I knew when I was a kid fished trout in rivers with those Johnson spincast reels and Mitchell 300’s were the standard spinning reel.

    Those old reels had a lot of machined parts in them. Plus some hand fitting of those parts. Vastly different than what you get these days

    was a 300 guy back when up north myself , sure could handle a beating from a kid who was hard on equipment .
