Wow! Nice catch for sure.
Be safe and good luck fishing
Thanks for all the comments....much appreciated. The crappie have all been cleaned and ready for the freezer. I have a theory about those big black nose. I hope y’all don’t think I’m crazy and I think CPappy may agree with me. I have been catching, cleaning, and eating crappie out of the Caney Fork since around 2008. Without fail every crappie I ever cleaned from there had a few of the tiny red parasitic type worms that get in fish in some bodies of water. We always just picked them out and if we did miss any once they hit that 360 degrees grease they couldn’t harm anyone anymore....LOL. Well as I mentioned in my post those fish all had a rough mark on them somewhere. The spill gates had been open for several weeks......first time since 2010. I think those big black nose washed in there through the spill gates from the lake a few weeks back. The reason I say that is none of these fish had the first worm in them. I’ve also caught and cleaned a ton of crappie out of Center Hill Lake. I don’t recall those lake fish having any worms at all. Plus that lake produces much bigger crappie than the river. So...that is my theory....as strange as it sounds....LOL.
