How big is the livewell? Can you plug it, put ice in it, not worry about keeping them alive? Especially in the summer?
Or plug it, have more storage. Then put a cooler in the boat with ice.
    Drinkin coffee, missin fish.

Attended the Crappie U classes in my area this past Feb and one of the speakers mentioned using oxygen to your minnows and live wells.
He said that the oxygen would keep both the fish and minnows alive like nothing else. Not very expensive to get set up either.
You might try a google search on this topic. Good luck.

Get and install the timer Scrat posted. It wires into your pump on off switch. Then like others said get that marine metals dual pump and wire it to acc switch. I run live well off 1 leg and 2 minnow buckets off the other.

Only difference is that I invested in a Frabill that works for up to 100 gallons. I know it is overkill but with one tube in baitwell and one in minnow bucket it works great!

Yeah I think this is the route I will go. Should cover everything. I'm not so much worried about them dying 90% of the time, but I do fish a few events during the year that I need to keep them alive for weigh ins (corp challenges etc.)

Rig-Rite sells the switch and timer together as one unit. You can buy them from any major boat place. The down position (Run) will fill the livewell, the up position is for (Cycle) and will cycle the pump based on the timer attributes.

My recommendation for anyone that is serious about tournament fishing, boat rigging, and Oxygen PPM in the livewell is to invest in an Oxygenator system. That is the name brand "Oxygenator".
