There is a lip that wraps back, I will try and get more pictures this weekend. I did contact Cisco fishing systems but was over priced for me. I sent e-mail to traxtech but nothing back yet. So exactly how far from the water do I want the tip of pole, is my goal to be just a few inches up from water. I watched a bunch of videos on how they develop the trolling curves and the guy has the tip of pole buried in the water.

thanks again for all the help

The reality is that it doesn't matter. Obviously, the curve starts where your line enters the water. Knowing the accurate length from the tip to the entry point is tge key. It is easier to judge when the tip is closer to the water surface. Six inches off isn't going to break the bank on your guess.

Great thread so far. I'm working building a t-slot rail to install on my boat. I like the idea of moving rod holders around, and ability to mount and move other items too. Like drink holders, tool holders etc.

This is a picture showing the bar I made last year, made it for cat fishing and worked well. Not so well for trolling, I think it sits to high and the tip of pole is way up in the air even using the horizontal position of holder. I think the track system would be the best if I can find one affordable and start slow.
