Spot on!
As the New Year rang in most of us here have high expectations for the upcoming 2018 fishing season. Thursday, January 4th, two fellow anglers missed weigh-in and a search quickly went underway. These guys were in a top of the line rig, 521 Ranger with a 250 horse motor on it, but it did not make them indestructable. The rig was found with the driver holding on to it after both anglers had been ejected from the boat. As of this evening the driver is still in the hospital and the passenger has not been found and hope is fading. Prayers go up for him and his family as well as for a full recovery for the driver.
I say all this to beg everyone to use their heads, no tournament, guide trip, only day you can fish for the next two weeks or fish is worth risking our lives for.
As an angler who spends between 150 and 200 days a year on the water I have been in some bad situations and they can come up quick. Be sure your boat is prepared and you wear your PDFs (I am guilty of not doing this on good days but good days can turn bad quick too.)
There are days that my rig just don't leave trailer, even with big money on the line like the ACT at Sardis this past year, it was very dangerous. We fished behind the dam out of the wind and had a poor day but we were safe.
Please be safe and keep in mind that many lives are involved when you risk yours, don't be selfish and live to fish another day.

Well said. The older I get the more I see people doing crazy things at the launch and on the water. Sometimes I believe that there should be a mandatory safe boating course invoked before anyone is allowed to go boating.
