My Stren says proudly made in the USA. Power Pro made in USA. Berkley iornsilk made in USA.
Years ago I used 2# line. It is fun to cast but I always had a bass or some other more aggressive fish break it while crappie fishing.
I’ve been using 2# test and UL rods almost exclusively for 10 years now. While I love catching bluegill and crappie I also chase smallmouth.....KY bass....and white bass with the same setup. I’ll average around 1000 smallmouth a year......many of them going 21 inches. I don’t post those trips here as it is a crappie forum. I will burn the road up going to Dale Hollow in the spring and for about a 2 month period I will catch anywhere from 20-80 smallmouth in a day.
It is rare for me to break a fish off using 2# test. It is not as difficult to land big fish on light line as people think. I also...not by choice.....get into a lot of buffalo in the spring that weigh as much as 15 pounds while crappie fishing some places.

I have fished with 2 lb test line many times. I can't imagine crappie fishing with 1 lb test unless I am fishing bridge pilings. All my other spots are full of brush so it would not be a wise move. I may try it with white bass since they are a open water fish around here. Using 2 lb test will force you to use your drag correctly. I best has been a 9 lb hybrid on 4 lb test line. That fish really tested my patience.
A couple of these will test 2 lb Trout Magnets SOS Line.
