Do you think that they will last longer if they are kept in the original, sealable packaging? Or, is it better to remove them and keep them loose in a Plano type compartment box? Right now, mine are still in the original bags or in some craft bags that I buy at Walmart. I have considered taking them out of the packaging and just keeping them loose, especially to get to them easier while fishing. What do you recommend?

I have a friend who owned a tackle store for a while and he would by bulk plastics. To keep them fresh he would put them in smaller bags and once in a while add a drop of cooking oil to them to keep them from drying out. When he closed down the store, I bought all of his crappie stuff so now I have several thousand jigs that I keep the same way. Inside an airconditiond room, oil once a year and they will keep for a long time.

    JRA,

Yes, I think it's better to keep em in the original bags as long as possible...I made the mistake of putting all of mine in Plano boxes and they're drying out...Which I don't consider a problem, but it would have been much better to keep em in a small box and take them out as needed....DemoMan
