I am 70 and feel the same way. I fish for the fun of it. I keep a few but release most. Fishing is my passion.

I feel just like that I fish and enjoy GODS world and all his creations. If I catch fish good but if I don't that is okay to. I will be 72 on my next one and in poor health so when I can go I am glad for the gift from God. Happy thanksgiving to all

First, let me compliment you on a wonderful post. I have done a lot of reflecting on days past, kinda goes with the job. I drive truck , you see, and get a lot of windshield time. Just into my 60's and see the inside me changing all the time, in many different ways. I have always enjoyed the small blessings we are given in the course of what some folks call an uneventful day. There's a lot going on, most times, if we only choose to see. I too have given up on hunting, though I do enjoy a little wingshooting. Gave my old Winchester rifle to my daughter for Christmas last year. My 13 year old Granddaughter took her first deer with it yesterday. So the tradition continues as it should. I always enjoyed hunting alone, and I can no longer be sure that if one was to run off into the thick stuff, that I could get him back out and show him the respect I was taught he deserves. I believe that you enjoyed the smaller things all along. You probably just had so much going on that they kinda got covered up by the everyday. Last Thanksgiving I was taken to Texas for a deer hunt with an outfitter. A gift from my Daughter and son in law for my 60th birthday. This Christmas I will have all my Daughters and Granddaughters near for the holiday. So you see, I too have had many blessings in recent times to think of this holiday. I can only hope that all who read this have a share of these gifts like I have been given, and have the most outstanding Thanksgiving ever. I know mine will make me smile for a long time to come.
