Cool!
For my applications here at Ky Lake, I will chart weights of 1oz, 1 1/2 oz and 2 oz. These weights along with the speeds should give me a good lure of chart. Brenda and I went out this morning "carp charting" and tried out some in line weights. I can make some fairly sharp turns without crossing lines up. What a relief.
I will continue charting when the weather cools down.
One thing we observed was ow the weight reacted with and without a crank bait.
FOR INSTANCE:
We had 10 feet of line out with 1 oz weight only going 1.2 mph. Depth of the weight was 6 feet at 1.2mph.
When we attached the bandit 300 with 3 ft leader, the weight climbed to a 4 foot depth and the Bandit 300 went to 6 foot.
What would you expect to happen if you did this?
This is an interesting project. Wish I were younger.
That is totally awesome. Thanks for sharing.

yep. The line (10# mono) was let out 20 foot. The 20 foot was measured from the weight reeled up to the pole tip, then let out 20 foot. I use a 3 foot leader below the torpedo lead weight. The leader is not included in the line out calculation. 3 foot leaders seems to be a memorandum of understanding that floats the internet.
I have a lot of testing to do.
very cool study that you are doing. I await more from your research and testing
good job sir
