One thing to remember is that the high $ units, especially Yetis need to be covered if left in a vehicle. The dopers will break out a window on an SUV to steal one, because they can be turned over for quick cash to stick up their nose.

The weight on the nicer coolers is a huge plus for the most part I can sling the lid open on that Ozark trails and it stays put. When I wash it out I open the big drain plug and clean it up without it ever tipping over. I can also put it in the boat empty and it dosent move one bit on the other hand if you got a lot of fish and or ice in it you will need to empty it some to get it out of the boat or have two people. I have the 52 qt which can be bought for under $150 which is a good deal I think. I will see how it holds up over the next few years so far it has been on about 10-15 fishing trips and is doing great for me. I am rather gentle on my equipment I use it but I don't abuse it I don't see the point in beating something to pieces then have to pay to replace it.
Same experience, same icechest, mines made about 60 trips, no problems at all. I would buy it again in a heart beat.

I used a old conveyor belt to fix my old cooler . Take old hinges off trace out on belt cut to the shape of hinge and screw on with hinge on top . Has lasted for 5 years .

Coleman.....I saw a comparison report that included Coleman, Yeti, Igloo & 2 more.....they put ice in all and checked them for several days to see which one held ice the longest....Coleman did the best.....I have one or two and they hold up pretty good...

I think I have 5 or 6 Coleman coolers, all different sizes. Lunch box sized, six pack, 12 pack bottles, Marine medium (30 quart or so used for minnows on the weekend campouts), Marine Large (54 quart), and a large regular cooler. Depending on the situation, depends on which one I bring. Oh almost forgot I also have a 5 gallon beverage cooler that I fill with water for the weekend while camping.

My coleman coolers serve me well. If the hinges break, it's a cheap fix. I put ice in Friday morning and still have ice Monday...I'm not buying into the overpriced Ice Chest Fad, to me they aren't worth it.

I shudder to think of buying one of those high dollar Yeti coolers but wonder if they last a long time. It's just hard for me to pull the trigger on one that costs that much! Please let me know if you know of a good cooler. I am talking about one big enough to hold fish, not a lunch box size. I guess 48 quart or larger.
you think you disgruntled now ? buy a yeti, brute(my favorite) pelican or rtic and let some thug steal it .Ask me how I know ? x2 I buy mine at the flea markets ,3-5 dollars lol

    Engel Cooler/DryBox.

Stainless hinges, stainless latches. $74.99 for the 30qrt model. I own three of them in three different colors.

I learned a long time ago, if you buy junk at 20 bucks, and then replace it over and over again because of the same issues (in this case, plastic latches breaking), eventually you paid for the higher priced item over and over again. Even if you purchase a standard cooler for $45 bucks, you are still dealing with the "plastic" hardware that continuously breaks on you. And lets face it, most coolers cost a minimum of $45 bucks these days.

In today's age, EVERYTHING gets stolen if it isn't locked down or out of sight. NOT purchasing something because of the potential of it to get stolen isn't a great reason. I wouldn't purchase a ford pinto wagon simply because no one wants to steal it!

Keep in mind that this is NOT their higher end series but it is a quality cooler/dry box at a great price point that will keep ice cold longer than most other coolers of equal price.
