Were you catching them around those cypresses or on some other cover?
Here are a few fish Ms Jess amd myself caught yesterday 02/28 on a river oxbow in the Misissippi delta. She also caught her fish on her first hand tied jig she made. We caught these fish in 2 to 3 foot of water fishing 18 inches deep with a flat top cork and bucktail jig. The water temp was 54 degrees. Most of them were male crappie but we did catch a few big females. It was a great day to take off work. And to top it all it was her Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Ms Jess. I can't think of a better way to spend a birthday. Nice fish!!!
John 3:3 ... Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
They were around the trees with Knees and if there was a cluster of trees. If you caught one you could almost always pitch back in there and catch a second one.

Thanks. How far north is your lake. I'm in northern Ark., and I was wondering how far behind you our crappie will be. Our lake is flooded right now anyway, but the water ought to be out next weekend if we don't get any more rain.
What time is SUPPER?:D
That's one awesome catch and I'm not talking about the fish. Man It scares me to think what would happen if I suggested going fishing on my wife's birthday. All I know is blood would be shed and it would be some time before I mentioned going again.
Nice catch!
Now these folk have it right! What better thing to do on your birthday. Nice fish!
Good things come to those who bait.
That is a very nice mess of slabs. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It's good to see family fishing together.
