I agree with catfan, charge as soon as possible after you get home.
The fastest way to destroy a battery is to let it sit at less than full charge. Even hours can damage it.

Wow. I have never put this much thought into batteries before... so now I have a question. If I have 2 batteries ( one for the front of the boat one for the back) and only 1 charger. If I charge one battery Monday - Wednesday and the other battery Wednesday night - Saturday morning. Would the first battery still be good to go on Saturday after being off the charge for 3 days? Or should I just break down and buy another charger

After every trip and just charge overnight. If its a few days before I go fishing I may plug the charger up a couple of hours before I go.
It shouldn't drop that much charge in a weeks time (unless they're old & getting weak). So, what I would do is charge up one, then the other (all in one day if possible) ... then put the charger on each one every other day (or at least once, shortly before you intend to use it).
If you do decide to buy another charger, I'd suggest a onboard digital 2bank charger with 10amps/bank. Something like a MK220D, if it will fit in your boat. (and, yes I do know that they cost around $200 , I was just using that as an example )
Ok. Thank you all for the input. I'll look into one
