Got one in Little Rock Arkansas. Prices seemed fair but they never, not one time, had something I went in there looking for. Carried more walleye equipment than anything....in Arkansas? I mean I know there is walleye in arkansas.....but the majority of the fishermen around here is Bass/Crappie. I would think if ya wanted to make a sale the you would stock store with things that the locals used.

Exactly! Sometimes I wonder who makes the decisions on what each local store carries on there shelves. I think some of these are made by corporate people not familiar with the local area.

The one in Paducah, KY absolutely sucks. When they first opened, they stocked what the market wanted and their parking lot mirrored this with customers.
Now, I have no clue who they are marketing to except the tourist cripity crap.
We have an Academy Sports being built as we speak, and they will finish off Gander Mountain and close their doors.

I know this is true, it's called micro management. Wal-Mart tried that for a while when I worked there and sales dropped because long time customers, at least where I worked, quit coming in because they couldn't get the brand or style of what they wanted anymore. They wanted all stores to carry the same things and order from Bentonville instead of letting the stores order what sold

    It's official.

"Gander Mountain announced Friday that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection while it closes 32 underperforming stores and searches for a buyer."

I'm with bandchaser on the Paducah store. We used to go there on our Ky Lake trips and load up on Zoom stuff. Way better than BPS even IMO. (Still in my green carp days.) Now it's just shoes, clothes and hunting. Or it was the last time I visited. Can't see how they were not on the 32 hit list. As stated, probably just until Academy opens. Sadly, places like Dunn's and other Mom and Pop's went out. If the Academy coming there doesn't have any more help that can actually help than the CG,Mo store has, then not much will change there either.

Academy came to town here. They have a lot of jock stuff but not much crappie stuff here. It reminds me of Dicks.

We mostly go to Gander here to browse. Here being Jackson, Tn which is about 45 miles away from where I stays.

I cannot agree with you more, The Paducah Store is the worse store ever. The service sucks, the selection sucks, I cannot wait for Academy, plus I don't get 10 percent off like I do from other big box stores as a military retiree. When they close their doors wont miss it one bit.

Memphis Bass Pro only gives the 10% on Fridays. Sucks.
