I'm sure the braid still does twist, it just doesn't manifest itself like mono. Never had braid all twisted up in a birds nest like mono.

If using spinning reels, try pulling all your line from the reel with nothing on the end. Then reel it in using slight pressure. The twists will come out as you reel it back in. Tie on another jig...ready to go!

I had horrible issues with twist when I first started and a friend told me to tighten the drag and no more issues.

I think I figured it out.

I put my line on carefully on the spinning reels. I think my jig and trailer are on pretty straight. I do leave my drag pretty loose so maybe tightening it up will help as someone mentioned. I think the big problem came from what I caught the week before. I caught 17 catfish between 2lbs and 12 lbs trolling curly tail jigs through some massive balls of baitfish. We all know how much those catfish twist coming in. I caught all those cats in about 4 hours. Each pass I would catch 2 to 3 of them. Was a lot of fun. Probably could have caught them all day. Now I have 17 more catfish in my pond for the grandkids to catch.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I long line with 32 poles off my 27ft Carolina Skiff with 8lb Vicious Hi Vis and 1/16 oz minnow heads with no line twist. I use #4 hooks and 2 inch curly tails that are threaded on STRAIGHT with tail down. My speed is usually around .7 to .8 MPH. Line should be spooled on spinning reels with label facing UP.

I've found that my lines only twist up if I'm moving from place to place with the big motor over 2mph with lines in the water or when a small fish foul hooks and starts spinning in the water behind the boat. I clip the jighead and then let out more line than I would typically have out when trolling and let it trail behind the boat for a few minutes to untwist. Then just respool under finger tension and it should be good to go.

I myself wouldn't use a ball head jig for longline trolling, instead use an elongated head. They tend to swim thru the water column giving em a more natural appearance.

If I lay the spool on ether side the line will twist. Mount the spool on something using screw driver, nail or something else through the hole of spool that lets it spin freely with line coming off the top of spool for spinning reels, this is the best way I have ever found.
Also slipping of the of the drag while reeling will cause line twist.
