I use 10lb clear mono. 8lb would probably work just as well.
Getting ready for an upcoming trip and want to pre tie up some crappie rigs. Planning on some double minnow rigs, double jig/minnow rig, etc. Nothing crazy but want to have a bunch tied up and ready to go on some pipe insulation. I do the same for catfishing and it saves a lot of time when I get a break off. Question is, should I be using heavier line on the rigs? Just the mainline heavier? Just the "out" lines heavier? Both or neither? I'm using 4# Yo-Zuri hybrid as my main line and have 6#, 8# and even 20# test available for my rigs if I should be tying them with heavier line. What do you guys do?

I always go lighter on the leader . Say 10 on main line and 8 on leaders .
Am running 1oz mainly..I run 12lb Vicious fuluoro carbon..practically invisible...10# on anything lighter
I run 10# most of the time. Do yourself a favor, get some snell holders rather than wrap them on pipe insulation. The foam crushes down and your rigs will get loose.
