I fish them and prefer them to a hand tied Capps and Coleman style rig, less work. Have fished them side by side with some pretty dang good fisherman with there hand tied rigs and did not see a difference in production.
With that said I prefer a bottom weighted rig over any C and C rig.

I fish the Arkie Double Minnow Rig most of the time. Depends on how many stumps I have to deal with.

I tie my Own, I use a 1"X 3" board and have mark's on it to make them all the same length. Simple get my 214EL hooks from Grizzly Jig and the Crossline Swivels from them too.

Do you use the same line poundage for your top leader and your bottom leader?

I use a little smaller line on my leaders than I do on my main line. I normally fish 10 lb main line and I tie 8 lb leaders on the Arkie rigs.

Ok thanks a lot guys. I'm going to make a few changes to what I do. I might try tying my own as well in the future.

Which bottom weighted rig do you speak of?
    It is what it is!

I changed from bottom weighted to using small crimp on weights up top... but I've noticed I don't feel bottom as well anymore when spiderriggin got and with the lighter line,, I've been seeing more hookups,,,
