That is sure a nice gill you have. I haven't seen one that nice since I left home(LOMPOC) Was taught how to fish on Cachuma Lake. Or up to Lake Lopez. Our water is stained so we use what ever we like. I use Hi-Vis yellow. Or clear/Blue Berkley.
I use high vis braid. Have done it tied directly to the bait and with a light fluoro leader. Only reason I put that leader on there is because I used that rod for catching trout one day and just left it on there afterwards.
I really like braid for its ability to transmit light bites. You can feel that "reeling through a wet dishrag" bite very well with it.

I use 10/2 braid without a leader all the time, nice gill
Good luck and good fishing
I tie directly to Hi Vis braid all the time with no problems catching fish. Like a lot of folks, I can't see clear line.
That is one heck of a bluegill! Wow. I'm afraid to tie high vis or braid directly. Probably superstition but can't help it.
