I just bought a Mr Crappie slab daddy at Academy. Its a great reel made by lews but it's a little pricey at $40, especially if you were rigging several rods.

Just ordered 6 of the Quantum Ultrex from Grizzly, along with 6 rods, 2 spyder loks, 2 extra bases, and an EGO net. Ordered a two seat by side by side base yesterday. Guess I'm committed now.

I have the quantum optix from grizzly too. Work fine for me. Have you bought the rods yet? You should consider Southern Crappie 14's.

On rods I use for vertical jigging only I use reels I get from aliexpress.com a 13 ball bearing reel can be had for under $30.00. If I am going to be casting a 1/16 oz jig with it I will use a Abu Garcuia REVO. I can cast it as far as a spinning reel. Look on ebay for Japanese casting reels. Shipping takes a while, but they work perfectly for what you want to do. All my spider rigging rods have these on them, and haven't had any problems. You wouldn't want to throw crankbaits all day with them, but they are fine and CHEAP for spider rigging.
