This drawing came to mind (when) a week or so after Christmas I noticed (as usual) (this time of year) the many discarded Christmas trees all along the road and at every refuse recycling center in our area. This brought to my remembrance the one and only time (some eight years ago) when my brother and I had the "brainstorm" to build our own private crappie Christmas tree "honey hole" because of our love of crappie fishing and for eating fresh crappie.

Well, if you haven't ever taken on this type of project before: I can tell you it takes a good bit more time and effort than one might reckon at first glance... especially if your goal is to try to do it right. Well, without boring everyone to death with all of the trials, tribulations, how-to's and how not-to's of what all is involved with this project. I will only say that we did accomplish this task after some eye-opening hard work; we did learn a thing or two about what is involved in taking on such a project; and it did work out quite well in the end... at least all but the "private crappie reef "honey hole" part of our vision.

This turned out to be one for the crappie fishing memories book thanks (in some part) to the onslaught and popularity of modern day sonar electronics since then when we saw very soon that we actually not only provided a great habitat for the crappies to congregate (as intended); but we also provided a great community service by providing an awesome "honey hole" over which lots of crappie fishers would also congregate (which was not so much intended) ...who also enjoyed the fruits of our efforts for many years afterwards.

Here's my drawing rendition of how this might have looked from a crappie's eye view. Please take a moment to let me know what you think.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to leave your comment.

God Bless You & Yours.
