we both used very light rods today...his cost around 70 bux or so and mine was 14 ......both of us got whooped a bit and lost quite few do to light hook sets at 25 foot deep , but the good news is we had some kinda BIG time fun playing with them .....
he was laughing like heck at my rod bent over from my right shoulder to my left shoulder over my head most of the time I was trying to get them up .....and I did hook a couple that I never got to see because they were to big for the equipment and ended up breaking me off .....we both used 4 lb test today ...
stay tuned and I will post up some photos and a fishee story later ....

I used tiny braid on the 5'6" for a while, and it helped on the hook set and the fish didn't care that I had tied the braid to the jig. And they are a ball with a bass of any size.

i have the shakespeare and a pflueger that is a composite?glass?really limber.i use 6lb nanofil which is like 2lb or less dia.can really skip a road runner under a dock with that tiny line it casts well.the line has zero stretch so hook set is just a lift.have caught 2lb crappies and a couple good size bass and the line held.

I bought the first micro 7' about 4 years ago after talking with a young man at the landing who had one. He had a 1/32 jig on it and cast it farther than I could believe.Six pound Fireline flies out of this rod two pound diameter and will staighten hooks when hung. Bought another last year love em both have the cheaper pflueger trion reels cheap set up but very good.

I will look for the 7 at WM, need something fun and cheap for our KY Lake trips, we fish from bank and catch bream, medium bass and some real decent channels. Where we fish near home in Indiana we can use the 5 or even a tree limb for catching the numerous baby gills, sad state in this state.

I've got a 5'6" light power that I use for wandering shorelines. Great for tight places and it feels really nice. Great rod for $20. Ive even caught some decent size river smallies on it .

I'm thinking of getting a 7' or 7'6" ultralight this spring for bluegill.

Buddy has several of them and really likes them. With the old magnumlite AX1000 I bought for a $1 this summer at the flea market I may pick one up as the grand daughter is getting more and more interested in using Papa's shimanos!!!LOL
