Great, they must have corrected the manufacturing flaw that the first reels had. Wally thought that the first ones could be reversed but it ended up not being so. I have some of the first one out and they cannot be switched. You might want to put some thick grease on the needle bearing before you pull it out because they could fall out or at least the ones I have do.

I couldn't figure out how to reverse it. I think I can pull all the line off and turn it around and reline. This is what I am going to try. Does anyone use an inline ice reel like the Fraybill.

I've used the Eagle Claw ice reel that I won at our D'Arbonne Fall gathering. It works well but is very heavy compared to the sole. For shallow water fishing the solo works great and I think the Ice reel would be better for deeper water fishing. The large handle can be a nuisance because if you fish with one hand holding the pole and the other holding the line to feel the slightest bite, the line can easily become tangled in the handles. The drag is great and the free spool feature is also nice.

Gene thanks for the info. I think that if the relining of the Solo doesn't work I am just going with spinning reel and live with line twist.

Boa one good thing about having a solo on my Sam Heaton Super Sensitive 10 rod is that one day a fish pull it overboard and off down river it went. Another fisherman nearby reach down and picked it out of the water for me. Sorry to say the fish came off.

While we're talking swaps (OT) can you swap handle sides, on a B&M BANO1? I really can't get used to reeling with my right hand, with a jig pole.
    Thanks all!

Short ansewer is yes you can. Kinda hard to explain thought. You have to unscrew knob oppisite drag knob, pull spool, then remove the longer Bearing and turn it end over and reinstall. That is a one way roller bearing. Used to be a couple of videos on YouTube but for some reason they got deleted.
