Interesting stuff, so you ditched rod and reels. Going retro like primitive archery I suppose. Neat, thanks for the input Sir.

Yeah, it is retro. Also I run what I call "Triple Threat" swivels. It's a triple barrelled swivel, and that goes a long way toward eliminating line twist. hope it helps. You can take any of the things mentioned and adapt them for rod and reel.

It took me years to figure out that spinning gear put twist into the line. If you're interested, PM and I can send you a few of these triple threat swivels if you like.

Yes, I have been running swivels this year when jigging on the bottom, my buddy continues to get tangles.

You may know this guy, or would enjoy reading his book(s) and/or watching a DVD on him. If I recall, he used a hand line to catch his dinner while living off the wild in Alaska, while in his canoe at the lake.

I use 4# and 6# depending on the cover I am fishing. Submerged trees I use 6#, everything else I use 4#.
Most of the time I slip bobber fish. However there are times when I use jigs and prefer to use snap swivels. I prefer ball bearing type swivels. You pay a little more, however they work better at reducing line twist.

Looks like you are zeroing on quality information for the type fishing you want to do with spinning reels. As I started, my primary method is single pole cast and retrieve, vertical, and flipping to laydowns and structure.
Glad many great folks are jumping in to provide you great info. Good luck.

Crappie feed up and will follow a bait especially in stained (not Muddy) water they watch the bait or whatever they are after, instead of jigging up let it fall and it will hit them in the face so you have a reaction bite just let it fall a few inches ( my opinion only) your milage may vary

spinning reels do cause line twist close the bail with hand this saves 1/4 twist in line each cast. and watch as you cast a tube or other plastic you can see the lure spin on the way to the water. My humble opinion only (MHO)
