Lol, ad1974 I did the same thing, but behind my shop not at my house. Dumped about 50 or so crappie skins and heads, plus about a dozen or so white bass (whole) fertilizers in a ditch about 100 yards behind the shop. Well few days later got a good east wind blowing thru and the neighbor asked me if I smelled anything dead, It was all I could do not to pretend like mean while managing not to . Good thing my landlord is a good ole boy and loves to talk fishing, cause even though I've never heard anything and I'm sure if there was a complaint, he knows who done it...Lol

There is a non-denominational church close to my shop. They had a Saturday catfish 'Noodling" tournament and fish-fry a couple years ago. There were several catfish up to 50 pounds caught and filleted. I know this because they asked for my assistance to borrow knives and how to use them. There were probably 20 catfish over 20 pounds dressed and the carcasses dumped into their dumpster next to the worship center. The garbage was normally picked up weekly on Monday but Sunday somebody decided it would be a good idea to park a church van directly in front of the dumpster. Monday came and the truck couldn't get to the dumpster, they left without emptying the mess. All the business around the church (it's about 100 yards from my front door, upwind) about gagged and got sick having to smell that crap for a week. The clouds of flies were unbelievable. There wasn't a whole lot of good things said about the pastor and those responsible for this fiasco. I'm afraid should it happen again, somebody will find a way to drag the dumpster to the front door of the church.

Happened to me a couple times. I have a weak stomach. Remembered to puke out of the boat the second time it happened. Had a mess in the boat the first time.

Did it myself once, and had a friend cover his for over a week with one in it. Got to the lake and popped the live well and MAN it was bad. And it had already filled with water. He couldn't figure out where the flies and maggots came from. In through the overflow pipe. Took a while for that one to quit stinkin, nothing left but skin and bones.

crestliner08, nope no fillet. As my catfish buddy said, fiddlers are the way to go. So, off he went to the local wildlife recycling center. Go green.

I'd venture to say anyone with a livewell or minnow bucket has done something similar at one point in their fishing lives! Easy to do when, "just one more cast", when you get home after dark!! Enjoyed all the stories!!
