Nice looking fish. I don't want to get into any races with the weather......but sometimes it happens.

I had to look it up. If the time between the flash and the thunder is less than 30 sec. you can be struck. math using speed of light versus speed of sound puts the lightning strike less than 6 miles away. I have seen lightning strike several miles ahead of storm clouds from clear skies. On the water with an electric storm scares me but let a storm pass thru a recreational ball field on a Saturday and it goes to a whole nother level
i will say it was heck getting home in that storm ...i had to travel into it south as it came north ...a ten minute ride to the house on the freeway took 30 ....man was it pouring down some rain and hail .....

Been there/done that. My youngest son and I got caught on the Mississippi river in Wisconsin a few years ago. Wind, heavy rain, lightning, aluminum boat, just trying to get in an extra few minutes before the storm hit. Nothing but DUMB!!!
If we did what was most important in life there would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles
not doing a weather check on my part before the trip was ding dong for sure ....i would kept the boat in the garage if i took a minute to see what was coming
