Yea, we were jigging 1/4-ounce silver Kastmaster Spoons from 30-feet to the bottom in 40 to 60-feet of water. We were all using the new 6'6" light action Ugly Stik spinning rods Shakespeare just sent me and they handled the big fish just fine and made it a lot of fun. We lost a couple dozen fish while we were bringing them up and I think that was partly because the hooks on the Kastmasters are so small.
I had reather clean fish than go to the doctor and walmart. Hope the boys are makin it ok. Think the wife is comin down with it as well.

Hey Jerry, I don't envy you at all. Well, at least the part about sitting in the Dr.'s office and later on sitting at the pharmacy. Next time, tell 'em you need some medication to recover from the experience...:D

So, I guess pullin' those hawgs out of the depths of Lake Hamilton really put the test on those new Ugly Sticks. For what other tactics do you envision those rods being used?

And, you better get the hooks sharpened up on those Kastmasters. You know, summertime will be here before we know it...full of inconsiderate waverunners and ski-boats. You wouldn't want to put a dull, rusty hook in them, now would you?:D

awsome fishing, nighty night time here in Arkansas, looking forward to catching some Crappie tomorrow, but I'm not sure why we're going to go after Crappie when the Stripers are hitteing so good. Anyway, I'm sure if the Crappie arn't there, the Stripers will be calling our name, and we'll nag Darryl and Jerry into coming back for some of those again. It'l at least show my buddy Tom how the pro's shop for Crappie out here in Arkansas. Cool, looking forward to it.. specially since it's like zero degrees at home and it's gona be almost 60 degrees tomorrow here. I'll have fun no matter what takes place. ttyl, till tomorrow

More pics and a full fledged story to follow......Ed

    Hey Chris:

I keep Kastmaster spoons on four rods in my boat all the time in case we run into some breaking fish and we use them to vertical jig for crappie every now and then so that's what I got the light action Ugly Stiks for. I also got some medium action Ugly Stiks for trolling and they are working out real well too. I have Shakespeare Line Counter reels on them, which make it real handy for knowing how far out our lines are so we can keep them staggered.
