We've had 4 boats with Yamaha outboards and are currently running a 200 hp Yamaha 4 stroke. Each one has been a great motor (two were 2 stroke and the last two have been 4 stroke)

Service--service--service. Make sure u buy from someone that services what they sell. Pretty much all of the new outboards are good, but if you encouter a problem, then driving 2-3 hours for service is a pain.

I have 2 Suzuki dealers within 10 miles of my house and another one 20 miles away. None of them would get serious about selling me my Suzuki 140 so I bought it 3 hours away. They are all bound by contract to do warranty service work on my motor should it be needed. Will they like it? Probably not.

Question really is when will they get to it? Around here it would remain behind any customer boat. Even if you were next in line, another customer motor comes in and bump ya back. Might be easier to take it the 3 hours back for service.
