    They are a stout little fish. If you get one over 8" then you really got a good one. I have always called it a warmouth aka rock bass ever since I was a young en.

    I caught one on a big crankbait in KY lake last year trolling for crappie in 20 feet of water. Bait was 1/3 the size of the fish.

    When I used to tournament bass fish in Ga, we used a lot of fire-tail plastic worms. Those little suckers would grab that tail, start moving off like a big bass, but when you set the hook all you got back was a worm with no firetail.

    We always called them rock bass when I was growing up here in KY but warmouths in GA.

    Warmouth. It's a good thing they don't get big, you'd need snagging equipment handle them.
