I scoop out the rib cage with the electric and the final trimming is done with a Havalon fillet blade.

Here's a parties catch of crappie done with the AA PRO

192 fish a week for 52 weeks....when do you find time to fish...LOL. I don't even want to think about cleaning that many fish.

For me it takes about the same time with ether but like someone already said you don't waste as much meat with a regular knife or at least that's the way it works for me.

people talk about wasting meat by using the electric knife, I really don't understand that. I used the old regular rapala knife for years and never gave it a thought and then discovered the electric knife and never went back. I honestly don't think it has anything to do with wasting meat or not I think its just preference.

My son scales, I keep up with him with a regular filet knife....I learned from Grannie how to filet fast and have been doing it since.
No meat is wasted, the fish look like a skeleton when I'm done!

It does get tiresome but it's all for my clients. I run a charterboat business from May through September, that's why I clean so many. I miss those old days I used to fish for myself and just bring in a few each trip.

I have an American Angler that is probably 15-18 years old, never had any problems. I don't cut through the ribs with it though. My favorite fixed blade knife is a Cold Steel I bought many years ago.

I had an American Angler for at least 10 years and it finally burned up so I went cheap when I replaced it and I've gone through 4 Rapala I n last 2 years, they just don't hold up to much fish cleaning, your better off spending the money up front and getting the best it will save you in the long run, I now own a new American Angler and as long as they keep making them I won't ever own anything else !!

This is the way that I go also. I have looked at the orange AA many times and every time the guys that review the knives say they are not what they used to be especially for 100 bones. Nothing like the black AA from years past. I always just go sharpen my Dexter and carry on.
